Funding

Working parents in England can access 15 hours of free childcare per week (for 38 weeks a year) for children aged 9 months to 3 years, with full rollout by September 2025 offering up to 30 hours per week for eligible 3- and 4-year-olds. To qualify, each parent must earn at least the equivalent of 16 hours a week at minimum wage (around £2,380 over three months) and less than £100,000 per year.

Disadvantaged families may qualify for 15 hours of free childcare from age two, regardless of employment status. This includes children with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP), those receiving Disability Living Allowance, looked-after or adopted children, or those from families receiving certain benefits. Parents can apply for funded places through the government’s childcare portal and must reconfirm eligibility every three months to continue receiving support.
