New addition to the Pet family

🐔🌿 Exciting News from Pitta Patta Day Nursery! 🌿🐔

We are delighted to share that we have recently welcomed five new chickens to our ever-growing Pitta Patta pet family!

Our nursery animals play an important role in children’s learning and development, and the addition of our chickens provides a wonderful opportunity for children to experience hands-on learning about the natural world.

Through caring for the chickens, children will be able to observe how animals grow, learn about their needs, and develop a deeper understanding of responsibility, kindness, and respect for living things.

These experiences link directly to the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum, particularly within:

🌱 Understanding the World – learning about living things, habitats, life cycles, and the environment.

💬 Communication and Language – encouraging children to ask questions, share observations, and develop new vocabulary related to animals and nature.

❤️ Personal, Social and Emotional Development – helping children build confidence, empathy, responsibility, and caring attitudes towards others.

🔢 Mathematics – counting eggs, comparing sizes, and exploring simple concepts such as quantity and measurement.

🎨 Expressive Arts and Design – inspiring creative play, storytelling, drawing, and                                                                                  imaginative learning based on the children’s experiences with the chickens.

We are also excited to share that we will be collecting our freshly laid organic eggs to use within our nursery cooking and baking activities, helping children understand where food comes from and promoting healthy eating. Once our chickens have fully settled into their new home and are laying regularly, there should be plenty of delicious eggs to go around, and we look forward to sharing some with our families too!

Our outdoor learning environments and animal experiences continue to provide rich opportunities for children to connect with nature, develop curiosity, and learn through meaningful real-life experiences.

We have enjoyed introducing the children to our newest feathered friends and sharing their adventures with you over the coming wee
